HOW FAR SHOULD THE KEEPER COME OUT AWAY FROM THE GOAL WHEN THERE IS A 1 V 1 ON A BREAK AWAY? IS THERE A MAX DISTANCE?

this is a great question that i get alot, its not so much about distance that it is about the timing of the keeper coming out, diff coaches have diff.ways of teaching this but what i teach is that when the attacking player enters the 18 yd box you want the keeper to THEN begin closing the attacking player down. The keeper should be coming out quickly with knees slightly bent, weight forward, hands to the side close to the ground and palms facing the ball. this is something that should be trained, the technique can only be mastered with a high number of repition.
Mr. shellhouse if you would like more info on this just email me, there are 3 diff parts to the 1 v 1 but this is your general tip.
