Another educational opportunity. An attacking player goes down in the attacking third of the field in the penalty box. The player stays down to try and get an advantage with a drop ball. The play should not be stopped unless the player is seriously injured. I realise we are dealing with young children and I would never stop momma bear from tending to her cub but as a Ref I will stop the match if the player is seriously hurt. Not if they bounce up and jog back after the play.

"The referee must adhere to the following procedure when dealing with injured players:
" • play is allowed to continue until the ball is out of play if a player is, in the opinion of the referee, only slightly injured
• play is stopped if, in the opinion of the referee, a player is seriously injured....."
